The ads in the vintage section of your favourite streaming service may be old, but they are still pretty useful.
For example, the ads from VHS are a treasure trove of nostalgia for any collector.
But what if you want to watch the ads without spending any money?
How about watching ads from your phone or tablet?
A new video from The Verge and iFixit shows a new way to get the ads you want without spending a penny.
They use Google Ads to scan your phone’s camera to get your phone number and, optionally, a picture of you.
This will let you see all the ads that you’ve ever seen before.
The trick is to scan all the photos from a single app (such as Instagram, Instagram Messenger, Facebook Messenger, Snapchat, and Instagram Stories), which takes a very long time.
We’re not sure if this method works as well as the other one, but it seems like a nice workaround.
You can find the tutorial here.
The video above shows the process of scanning the photos to find all the old and recent Instagram photos in the app, then downloading the old ones to your phone.
Then you just have to wait for the ads to appear.
If you’re in a hurry, you can just wait for them to load on your phone and skip the scanning part.
