NEW HAVEN, N.H. — New Hampshire’s Republican senator, Lindsey Graham, has accused Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton of running an “economic war on our country.”
In a wide-ranging interview with The New York Times, the senator, who has yet to endorse a candidate for president, said Clinton’s campaign has “made an issue out of the president’s lack of enthusiasm for the economy.”
“We are in a crisis right now,” Graham said.
And we need somebody who understands that and understands that this is not just a crisis for the president, it’s a crisis in the country.””
She has been running a war on the American people, on our jobs, on Medicare, on Medicaid.
And we need somebody who understands that and understands that this is not just a crisis for the president, it’s a crisis in the country.”
And the president is not going to make it any easier for Americans to get their lives back on track, because he doesn’t want to be able to do that.””
It’s a big crisis.
And the president is not going to make it any easier for Americans to get their lives back on track, because he doesn’t want to be able to do that.”
On Sunday, Graham, the first senator to endorse Trump in a Republican primary, said he thought Trump would make a “good president.”
“He’s going to try to do his job,” Graham told NBC’s Meet the Press.
“But he’s going, he’s got to do it with the people who are actually in the middle of it.”
In the interview with the Times, Graham said he’s “absolutely” open to supporting Trump if he wins the election, but that he doesn “have a good understanding” of how the Republican nominee plans to run the country after his inauguration.
“I think it’s going be a big deal.
And I think it’ll be a major political challenge,” Graham acknowledged.
“He’s got a real challenge to take on.
But he’s not a very good leader.”
Graham added that he believes Trump is a “great guy,” but added that there are “other people out there who are a little bit better than he is.”
“I’m not sure what his agenda is going to look like,” he said.
In the Times interview, Graham also expressed concern that the country could be in for a “big” financial crisis if Trump is elected president.
“He wants to be president of the United States, and he’s a real threat to our economy,” Graham claimed.
“If you take a look at what happened in 2008 when Obama was in the White House, there was a financial crisis, and I’m not saying he’s doing it.
But there’s a possibility he could.
And he’s just going to have to take care of the American workers, and the American consumers.”
